Shopping Lists

I keep a running Note on my phone where I add ingredients I know I’ll need on my next grocery shopping trip (usually once every 8-10 days). Check out an example of a full list, divided into categories.

Meal Planning

With fewer grocery store trips than normal, I’ve been relying on meal planning. I try to be flexible, but like to have a general sense of what I’ll be cooking throughout the week and how I’ll use all the food I just bought.

Pantry/Fridge Staples

There are certain items I always like to have on hand in my pantry (er, cupboards… some day I’ll have a true pantry!), freezer, and fridge. These are foods I know I use a lot, or foods I can use in a variety of recipes.

Flavor Building Blocks

When you’ve been cooking a while, you start to notice flavor combinations you use frequently. These building blocks become very helpful when you’re trying to create your own recipe and can help with shopping lists.

Products I Love

I don’t believe in a kitchen cluttered with appliances you never use. Here are the products I reach for again and again — from the smallest (veggie scrubber! fish spatula!) to big ticket items (knife sharpener! blender!).

My Favorite Recipe Blogs/Sites

I love following certain bloggers, magazines, and chefs on Instagram and blogs. While I might not ever follow a recipe exactly, these experts are great sources of inspiration and education.
